PROVIDING PAIN RELIEF AND INITIAL BALANCING

IN THE FIRST SESSION!  You really can feel better!

Each individual is unique in the way patterns are held in the body, the response of the tissues to the therapy, and the emotional expression of the body. There is a core distortion in virtually every client that results in a spiral torsion creating an imbalance of the entire structure including the cranium. Clients in pain usually have a structural collapse somewhere in this core distortion pattern causing greater distortion and resulting compensation. Often the compensations are from  the counter spasms, which can cause more pain

than the initial injured area, and will frequently be the reason for

seeking treatment.

SET techniques concentrate first on the structural problems responsible

for the primary area of pain before addressing the total structure.

The initial pattern to be released is the core distortion pattern based

on body torsion. Some clients will achieve structural balance following the

release of this one pattern, while others may continue the unwinding

process by moving into other sub-patterns. The SET therapist analyzes

the body structure at the beginning of each session, observes the most

limiting factors inhibiting the balance of the structure, and follows the

protocol to treat the specific sub-pattern presented.

The number of sessions needed to achieve a well-balanced, supported

structure depends on the severity and extent of the problems, and

the client’s response to the therapy. A structure that is in a balanced

postural alignment is likely to be able to function more efficiently and

free of pain, and will be better able to withstand the stresses and

traumas of life experiences.

SET compliments standard medical treatments, chiropractic, and

counseling both as a primary therapy and an adjunct therapy.

WHAT IS STRUCTURAL ENERGETIC THERAPY?®

Structural Energetic Therapy (SET) is a specific set of techniques applied to protocols that have been developed to release old structural patterns in order to rehabilitate and support a new balanced postural alignment. Unlike the ten-session model for body restructuring, SET is based on the needs of the client, beginning with releasing the structural imbalance responsible for the primary area of discomfort.

For example: in a whiplash injury, the treatment starts with releasing the musculature, myofascial patterns, adhesions and inflammation in the cervical area. After the pain is reduced, and the cervical structural alignment is improved, then any imbalances in the pelvic and/or thoracic regions need to be released so that the improved alignment of the neck is supported. When this is accomplished, the whole structure supports balance and function.

In other ten-session restructuring therapies, only the surface myofascial layers of the entire structure are released on the first visit. Subsequent sessions treat the deeper layers. However, all SET levels are addressed in the first session. The massage therapist incorporates the Cranial/Structural Core Distortion Releases to initiate the unwinding of the holding patterns within the body, and then continues with the soft tissue work moving from superficial to deep tissue release and unwinding.

WHAT IS  STRUCTURAL ENERGETIC THERAPY?

SET is a body restructuring therapy that incorporates medical massage techniques and is based on the individual needs of the client. The SET therapist works from the client’s problem areas and releases the specific areas of pain. Often a structural imbalance is responsible for the soft tissue problems that cause the discomfort. The SET therapist restructures the body by releasing the toxins and fluids in the muscles, inflammation, myofascial holding patterns, adhesions, and scar tissue.

Once the pain (usually the initial complaint) is reduced, the therapist works to release the other structural limitations that were responsible for allowing the body to maintain the structural imbalances that produced the pain

For example, in a whiplash injury the neck muscles are treated and brought back into a more balanced position resulting in reduced pain. To maintain this balance and achieve the maximum reduction in pain, the structural limitation and imbalances of the pelvis and thoracic are addressed. This results in a total structural balance that supports the neck enabling the neck to maintain a new pain-free structure.

SET has developed over 25 years and is constantly in a state of evolution. It integrates Quick Release Technique, cranial structural techniques, myofascial unwinding, neuromuscular applications, myofascial restructuring, emotional energy release, acupressure, kinesiology and muscle testing, passive and active resistance, postural analysis, scar tissue and adhesion release, deep tissue therapy, and rehabilitative massage.

A SET session begins with an evaluation that includes a written client intake form, a consultation to further assess the client’s condition, and postural analysis. Treatments usually begin with cranial structural therapy to initiate a release of the body’s holding patterns, and thereby begin the rebalancing. At this point, the client’s body begins to unwind. This often releases enough tension to noticeably reduce spasms and pain symptoms preparing the soft tissue for more extensive work.

Following the cranial structural releases, the SET therapist can work from the superficial myofascial layers to the deeper layers in the first session. The therapist uses a combination of myofascial unwinding techniques, myofascial restructuring, deep tissue therapy, scar tissue and adhesion specific fiber techniques, active and passive resistance, rehabilitative massage, and allows for emotional energy releases.

BIO

If there is emotional jamming, coughing and/or gagging will often release the emotional energy that is stuck in the throat and immobile. Another technique is to bite and scream in a rolled up towel or pillow. As all soft tissue work, there is always the possibility that unresolved emotional issues will surface.
